The Dutch plant aquarium



 

The so-called Dutch aquarium has been popular since the 1960s and was first used - where else? - in theNetherlands. To date aquaristics has concentrated heavily on caring for fish. However, with plant aquaria, fish are either done away with altogether, or just small shoal fish that do not burrow or eat plants are used. Typically grouped plants that are similar in growth pattern and colour are used. Visual highlights are created using flamboyant individual plants or root woods. Besides light and heated substrate, good carbon dioxide fertilisation is especially necessary for this type of tank.

Ground is a lime-free, water-neutral substrate. It ideally supports plants and has a highly decorative effect. Its grain size of 1 - 4 mm aids circulation in the aquarium bed, while its round form is ideally suited for ground dwellers such as catfish and loaches.

The correct pH value is crucial for a beautiful aquarium with healthy fish.
This is because the acidity level determines the pH value of the water.
You should therefore check the pH value regularly and, if necessary, adjust it to the respective needs of the inhabitants of your aquarium. An incorrect pH value means stress for the animals and can cause diseases.
The Dupla glass electrodes are characterised by their especially high and reliable quality.

Thanks to the BNC connection used, the glass electrode is compatible with all Dupla pH controllers as well as with almost all other commercially available pH controllers.
The electrode comes with all liquids necessary for calibration included.
